Longtime grocery store stuns community by closing

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS (WABC) -- Daniel Ahn and his family have operated a grocery store in Washington Heights for decades, but no more.

The store suddenly closed overnight, leaving the community stunned.

For 30 years, the small family shop sold fruits, vegetables, and other staples. As of Monday night, it is gone.

The owner tells us business has been slow, and he feared an impending rent increase. So, without a warning and without any fanfare, Mr. Ahn and his family made their exit

People who live around here say it's a loss for them and for the community as a whole
