9/11 memorial coming up short in funding

Eyewitness NewsNEW YORK (WABC) -- The 9/11 memorial is due to open in just over two months, but the project is still $3 million short.

Officials at the Port Authority say they need the money to construct a security fence and a visitor check-in area, and they say the Port Authority is not going to pay for it.

The New York Post says officials are asking Mayor Michael Bloomberg to find the money.

The mayor is chairman of the memorial foundation.
