What? New York City FOURTH in shopping

NEW YORK (WABC) -- It's retail blasphemy, some say, after New York City took fourth place in shopping.

The voters who participated in this survey are both visitors and residents of New York City.

The results are part of the 2011 survey by Travel & Leisure magazine called America's favorite cities.

It's solely based on the reader's preference. The top choice for shopping? Tourists rated New Orleans number one.

Number two is Santa Fe, New Mexico, followed by Charleston, South Carolina. Philadelphia came in fifth place, right behind New York City.

Industry analysts don't think these results are going to keep visitors or businesses from coming to the Big Apple.
