Michael Provenzano, the director of construction services at the city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development, was taken into custody by FBI agents.
Also arrested was Luis Adorno, a former inspection supervisor in HPD's Department of Architecture and Construction Engineering.
Police say the suspects were caught in an ongoing cash-for-housing contracts corruption probe.Last year, the investigation ensnared Wendell Walters, then a top official in HPD. He has since pleaded guilty to bribery and racketeering charges.
