Eyewitness NewsNEW YORK (WABC) -- The end of the school year could mean the end of employment for thousands of New York City public school teachers.
More than 3,500 teachers and other staffers at 24 failing public schools have gotten the equivalent of a pink slip.
The schools are slated to close and reopen with new names and new staff this summer.
Teachers who want to keep their jobs will have to reapply.The teachers union is challenging the overhauls in court.
