Public library backs off plan to ship off 3 million books

Eyewitness NewsNEW YORK (WABC) -- The New York Public Library is reigning in its plan to move three million books out of its 42nd Street headquarters.

Those books were going to be shipped to New Jersey.

But a new donation of $8 million will allow the library to expand its storage space under Bryant Park.

The revised plan is to send a little over one million books to Princeton.

And nearly all of those books are available in digital form.
